A modern violinist composer Kenneth Li was born and raised in Hong Kong. The rare classical musician who is passionate about modern jazz released his first album “HEY” in June 2021.
Special greeting way to say hello to his home town by returning from England of the jass music study, the album is a record that to embrace his homesickness, his thoughts of life and also, his imagination.
From peace to energetic, from cold to warm. An aggressive experiment to the local music market and the music itself. Black color tone with the dim-sighted portrait at the cover representing the uncertain music style, irregular music key, different music arrangement, collision and harmony appears at the same time, just like the album introduction paper, unique picture of each song, but we see the whole picture only when we listen (open) to the whole album.
The freeflow visual handling, flipped hand-written words decoration of the album introduction paper implicates the irregular music arrangement, but actually, the grid system is doing its job perfectly. Just like jazz music, it sounds out of order sometimes, but actually, the music is created from the foundation of music theory, always stay on track.
